The Story

After almost 12 years of success at fire food and drink on Shaker Square, I realize that a restaurant does so much more than serve food and drink; it brings our community together and offers people a break from the realities of daily life. We have always tried to make this experience a real and passionate one. We want to connect with our guest and offer true hospitality and warmth by preparing authentic local food using the best ingredients. We teach our staff how important it is to respect our ingredients, our work and technique.

As we welcome guests to The Katz Club Diner, I want to follow the same model. I want to offer a truly authentic experience that gives the people in our community a sense of pride, hope and joy for our local neighborhood. The Katz Club offers food that has a story, that is prepared with passion and pride and that offers the same respect for its ingredients as food prepared in a more fine dining setting.

The Katz Club will become a town center for our community to share their daily lives. We have lost the opportunity to share nurturing and scratch meals with our family and friends. The chain restaurant has taken the important nuances out of the meal. We have lost the soul in our dining experiences due to a lack of respect for the process and the commitment associated with putting a meal on the table. We need to give our community the chance to experience this authenticity again, so that we don't lose it permanently.

As my daughter Amelia pours the homemade hot fudge onto her sundae, and my son Abe helps me make the potato pancakes (to his very strict specifications!), I want to capture these moments and share them with my family and diner guests. I don't want to lose this important experience and joy in our daily lives. My hope is that my passion for providing true hospitality is exhibited in our food, drink and service each and every day.

Thanks for being a part of our community and for making this dream a reality.

Bar Car

The Bar Car at the Katz Club was the result of one question, what is our kind of bar? It had to be a sleek, cozy, hand crafted, Cary Grant gibson in a wifi world kind of place. A Raymond Chandler mahogany bar top mystery with ice tinking in a highball glass sort of joint. Traditional and familiar, but worlds away from anything that happened before five o'clock.
